Friends-

Some of you are new to this “cannabis update” email. I figured I’d add you as it might be a brief source of entertainment during the lockdown. I typically send an update email about our cannabis plants every other week. If you aren’t interested, let me know and I’ll remove you. No worries!

Speaking of lockdown, some counties in California are moving towards a “soft lockdown” and beginning to lift some restrictions. All this talk about soft lockdowns reminds me of soft serve ice cream (and Eddie O, as he points it out during each Blackhawks broadcast)… Nommmmm- gotta get my fix real soon here 🍦🍦🍦

I hope you’re able to find a silver lining during these odd, eerie times. Believe in the good, even with the smallest incidences, and revel in those moments! Perhaps that means spending more time with the family, reading for leisure, learning a new skill, or just eating a really good piece of ‘za- I believe it’s the little things that add up to make this stuff meaningful. I’m hoping that every day, you can find something that makes you happy, even in the littlest of things!

Alright, enough of the wishy washy stuff, lets get down to business. On Superbowl Sunday of 2020, we embarked on a new journey by potting cannabis plants in a grow tent with lights, fans, venting, etc. We have two going strong, and naturally we had to name them Chief and 9er. The strand of cannabis is an Indica, crossbreed between two power houses- the classic Northern Lights, coupled with a Blueberry Kush… Combining to make Blue Northern Lights? I dunno, something like that.

It has been quite the experience growing these gems- We’ve learned a lot and continue to discover more each day. Chief and 9er had a rough patch about 4 weeks ago because I wasn’t watering them properly, which I think may have stunted their growth; however, now they’re healthy, strong, and growing beautifully! We are hoping to start harvesting in 3-4 weeks, allowing at least a week to dry the plants. Then it’s time to burnnnnnn 🔥🔥🔥🍕🍕🍕🍕

Thanks to Monty Burns, we now have plenty of space to grow and have started five new plants. We have 3 more Blue Northern Lights growing, along with 2 pots of the Critical Jack Herer strand (sativa). The Jack Herer is also an “autoflowering strand”, meaning the plant will automatically switch from the vegetative to flowering stage with age as opposed to it’s light cycle (I believe this strand takes 55 days). We’re excited to keep the process going!

I’ve attached pictures of Chief and 9er- oh how they grow up so fast. You’ll also find our n00bs (the seedlings), and a cool Jewelers Loupe I recently picked up from Amazon (only $8!). The loupe allows us to check for Trichomes- these are the shiny crystals/sleek bulbs on the plant that contain most of the Cannabinoids, giving the plant it’s juju- it’s scent, flavors, and potent effects!

Well, I know it’s a novel, but what the hell- you got time right?! I hope you enjoy the update and please let me know if you are not interested (I promise I won’t be offended/don’t care). More importantly, keep grinding friends- look for those small moments and bask in the glory.

Stay safe. Love ya!
